I’ve been much more active on Instagram lately (@kshadlephotos) and I noticed someone (I wish I could remember who) posted pictures of their cookie baking tradition. I was inspired to document my mom making her much loved English Muffin Bread that was her mother’s recipe.

In June I visited Brevard for the third time, hoping to spot a white squirrel for the first time! We were told to hang out on the lawn at the college in town and we would be sure to see some because there is a colony that lives there. We were told if we took nuts with us they would certainly come out.

She was there with her sister selling beautiful dried flower arrangements, wreaths, and succulents planted in pumpkins. We got to talking and she offered for me to come sometime to take pictures in her garden. We tried for last summer, but it was too rainy and it seemed like every time we arranged for a meet up, it was way too wet…
Read MoreThe TLC “Waterfalls” song is running through my head as I type this blog. Last week we went to Asheville, NC and did not visit the Biltmore Estate! Instead we ate our way around town and hiked to several waterfalls. I found some filters in my camera bag I forgot I had that would allow me to take pictures of the waterfalls and slow the shutter speed so that the water would appear more feathery and show more movement to the water.
